Enterprise Ireland have launched the latest call for applications for the Online Retail Scheme on the 4th May. This is the fourth phase of a competitive fund scheme which is administered by Enterprise Ireland on behalf of the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation. The Unit had a 100% success rate with client applications during the second phase of the scheme in 2020.
There is a total fund of €5 million and applications are open until 12PM on the 25th May 2021. The purpose of the Online Retail Scheme is to enable Irish-owned retailers to enhance their digital capability and to develop a more competitive online offer. This will encourage sustainable growth in the Irish retail sector on offline and online environments.
Successful applicants will be awarded funding to support a maximum of 80% of the project eligible costs with a maximum grant of €40,000. However, you can apply for projects from €10,000 upwards i.e. you would receive €8,000 if successful with a €10,000 application.

Who can apply for the Online Retail Scheme?
The COVID-19 Online Retail Scheme is open to any Irish-owned retail business that had 10 or more employees on or before the 29th February 2020.
There are a number of other criteria a business must meet before making the application including having a bricks-and-mortar retail outlet which accounts for the majority of revenue. The business must also have an existing online presence in the form of a website or social media pages. As mentioned, applications close at the end of May so businesses should start applications as soon as possible.

What The Unit Offers
Enterprise Ireland requires each successful applicant to work with an experienced marketing agency (referred to on their website as an External Service Provider) to deliver their project. The Unit has a 100% success rate working with client companies on their applications in previous rounds of the Online Retail Scheme in 2020. We are working with those clients to complete their digital transformation project.

We are encouraging all Irish retailers to review the Online Retail Scheme and consider making an application. This is the fourth round of calls for the Online Retail Scheme with a total fund size of €5 million.
